Formatting in WEBi based on different languages

Hello All,

I have a requirement that when i schedule a WEBi report from CMC, the formatting of number in the cells should change based on the user to whom this report is being sent out to.

Right now by default , it is taking the english format.

I have some German users, who see '.' as ',' and ',' as '.' . So when the report goes to these user in the PDF format, they should see the number in their known country specific format.

Any ideas how this can be achieved ?

Hi Ashutosh,

I don't think there's a simple way to acheive this, especially using PDF format.  If you used WebI, you could set the document to use the user's locale settings and have it display formatting based on the user's locale.

But since it's PDF, the report would have to first be generated in the locale you want to use, then converted to PDF.

A "long" way to do it would be to have multiple versions of the report in different locale's then schedule based on the user's locale to PDF.

I guess that's not much help - but sounds like a good idea to add to SAP Ideas Place to allow for locale to be set in scheduling preferences!

Hi Carly,

Yes . That is what i did . I created another copy of the WEBi report and set the below settings for German formatting :

But i also made sure to check the below check-box too i.e. "permanent regional formatting" :

And then when i scheduled this WEBi from CMC and saw the output in PDF it was according to German formatting.

But yes you are right, more feasible would have been to have one single WEBi report and have this option of Locale selection in the instances itself .

I am glad that we were on the same page.

I will put this idea in the idea place in the coming days .

Danke ( Thanks in German )
