Creating a Crystal Check Layout

I'm fairly new to SAP, but I'm not new to Crystal Reports. It appears that all of the default layouts are PLD format, and I'd like to create a Crystal Check Layout. Does anyone have a starter check they've used that I could look at? I'm trying to wrap my head around how the system would know what to do if someone writes a check for 100 invoices and how to translate that to a crystal report check stub.
