Hello All
Currently our clients do not use the bin location function in SAP. They have a UDF called bin location on the batch details screen.
We would like to setup bin locations using the SAP Bin Location functionality. However the client is not happy with how the bin locations work in SAP.
e.g. of their existing bin locations :

Hello All
Currently our clients do not use the bin location function in SAP. They have a UDF called bin location on the batch details screen.
We would like to setup bin locations using the SAP Bin Location functionality. However the client is not happy with how the bin locations work in SAP.
e.g. of their existing bin locations :
1A1 2A1 3A1
1A2 2A2 3A2
1A3 2A3 3A3
e.g. Location 3A1 is not specific to a warehouse. It is a bin location that can be in any warehouse. e.g. A01, J01, etc.
So in essence bin location 2A1 can contain items that was receipted into warehouse A01 and warehouse J01. The bin location is not specific to a warehouse.
Is there a way to setup the bin location without specifying it for a specific warehouse. They do not want the bin location to be created as
"A01-1A1"
"J01-1A1"
Any ideas would be appreciated,
Thanks
Janice

Hi Janice
You will have to replicate the Bin location for each warehouse. Some clever reporting can then be used to "strip" the warehouse portion of the bin code and then effectively see stock for a bin, not warehouse specific. I do see the customers issue in having to select a warehouse on document row level as well as a bin code that is effectively a duplication of the warehouse code already selected.
It would also be possible to use this same approach with a UDF field on documents where the customer only chooses the Bin location portion of the code in the UDFand in the actual SAP Bin field we concatenate the warehouse and bin code combination to select the SAP Bin Code.
Let me have your thoughts on this.
