    Dear Sree

Hope you want to create set for report painter reports. Right?

If yes, to my knowledge sets are nothing but the groups what you might have already created in CO or in FI say CC groups/PC groups/CE groups and so on. If you press F4 you can see your created grou ps are already there. So it is not a mandatory step. If at all you require some new groups you may create them.

    Hi Sree,

Set´s could be used for reporting, Validation, user-exit´s etc.

So, you Need a Set for a specific Scenario, you have to clariy, which is the Basic table in SAP for this. Scenario. F.e. want to create a Report for Special cost accounts posted on you CO objects for products. The use a Basic-Set with reference to table KKBC and field Name KSTAR. Then you could

maintain the complete cost elements, which should be displayed within your Report. Therefore, the basic´s are, to know, what is the table within SAP, for what the set should work.
