Change the Valid-to Date in BOM

Former Member

Dear PP gurus,

We would like to change Valid-to date in BOM for Header as well as Component material from 31.12.9999 to flexible date.

I have done the following settings to achieve the same:

1. ECM is active.

2. Created a Effectivity Type using DATE as Effectivity parameter. This is chosen when BOM/ Routing is modified.

I have created a Change number and changed BOM with reference to change number.

But I am still unable to Change Valid-to Date from 31.12.9999 to a date of my choice.  The value is set to 31.12.9999 and field is not editable.

Please help me resolve the issue.

Thanks in advance.

As you can see in the image... you create ECM of today's date and done the changes.

Go to CS02...remove the today's date form valid form date filed and put the old valid from date.

Then you can see, your desired Valid to date

Please get back to us if any doubt.

Namrtha- When you create change number, you can see valid from date of Change number. When you apply this change number to any master data like Routing BOM, material this valid from date gets copied in to that If you want to check refer my recent post. Hope this will be helpful. Thanks Prashant

Hi Prashant,

I have applied change number to the master data like BOM and made changes to a BOM Component (Increase Reqd. Qty to 4).

I have done changes as per below steps:

1. Create Change number

With the details shown in above screenshot.

2. In CS02, changes are made to BOM Components with reference to change number. Valid-from date is set to value change number at entry screen.

Increased the reqd qty for a component to 150.

Saved the BOM .

After this BOM is displayed as shown below:

New change number is attached to the BOM Item. But there is no trace of earlier reqd quantity.  We would like to display the quantity used earlier for the component as another line (as shown in your screenshot)

Please let me know your feedback.

Namratha

Hi Namratha,

When you change a BOM in CS02, you provide one change date, and you are looking at all the component lines that are valid on that date.   Try using CS03 and enter a wide date range in the valid from and valid to dates and you will see a more complete picture.

Best of luck,

Jeremy

Hi Prashant,

I am still unable to change the BOM as desired.

I have increased Quantity of Item 0020 from 100 to 150 pcs. After changes are saved , i cannot see only one line for item 0020 instead of two (one for older change no. and secong for latest change no.)

I have done changes to BOM as suggested by you.

Could you share a screen shot of the Change number used by you to chnage Material BOM.

Namratha

Dear Namratha,

While checking the BOM details in CS03,remove the valid from and valid to date, the system will

display all the changes and now check if this fulfills your complete requirement or not.

Hey Namratha- See follow the below screen shot.

1. See If you put today's date, which comes automatically.

Then You will get screen as below.

2. But When you put old date before change date( change date: 27/05/2014) as below screen shot

You will get old data and new data as below

hope you are clear now.

Thanks,

Prashant

Hello Prasanth,

I have created a change number valid from today as suggested by you.

But when i go to CS02 and change valid-from date manually then the value from change number is getting copied automatically and a warning appears.

I have not attached the effectivity type to the change number.

I also want to know how to set Valid-to Date to a flexible date(other than 31.12.9999) when i create BOM.

Please guide.

Dear Namratha,

Engineering Change numbers help us to track the history of BOM changes and also for making BOM

changes with future date effective.

So even when we use the change numbers the system only copies the valid from date from the change

number. So in your case you can see observe that the first component MAST PT initially the component

quantity was 1 and  then got changed to 2 which is valid from 26.05.2014 as you used this change

number (valid from date as 26.05.2014 copied from the change number) to make this change.

At any given point we cannot set a default to date as we wish in the system. This valid to Date will get

set if any change is made to the particular line item by using the change number.

Check and come back with your future queries.

Hi Namratha---

Please follow this step: I am assuming that you have created ECm correctly.

Go to CS02-- Put the old Valid from date. Change number field should be blank.

javascript:;

Then Enter--- You will get warning message " BOM has history requirement".

Ignore and enter.

You can see
