BEx Request Poblem

hi guys...

we have created one bex request and developed around 10 queries...

but if i see in SE09... under this particular bex request there r only one query element...

my doubt is...all my queries are under one element or is it wrong...

pl clear me about this request... i need to transport theese queries...

or is there any way to transport by selecting objects... without knowing about the reqest which is holding this object...????

hi nithin,

bex request aim to accomodate changes for queries that have transported, for new query that never transported, the changes won't go to bex request...

one query has several elements ...

you can transport these new queries via transport connection >> object type >> query

to transport by selecting objects is possible from se10, menu request/task >> include objects, but for query it's quite hard to know the id, the object type is ELEM, better use transport connection and collect objects there. hope this helps.

i have some more problems realted to these transport requests...

actually i'm working on an ODS object...

it was modeled and transported to production 1yr back.

now i got to do some changes to this ODS. but the thing is in 1st phase, aft transporting to production, some users in development have done practice on the same object...

so there are somany change/modify requests regarding this object...infact what changes they have done i donno. without this knowledge i have done the required changes on this object now.. and it was not asked to save in any request when i was doing changes...

so my changes were along with those practice changes...

so now i'm not understanding which request to transport and which not to...

can you or anyone else suggest me proper way...

how can i collect all the requests related to this particular object...???

45 minutes wait is not a so long period to receive an answer, don't you think ?

But, we have really spoiled all our friends in all this time, so you are right to ask for some answer !

Ok, let's come to your problem...

In RSA1, go to your ODS, double-click, Extras -> Object Directory Entry -> Lock Overview: now you can see if your ODS is in a CR...

Now you can check in SE10 what this request contains...if you are not sure about the objects (if there are other objects than your ODS), you can release this requeest and reactivate your ODS again: system will ask for a new request.

Otherwise you can unlock the object (via Extras menu) and do the same: reactivate, include the object in a new request and transporting it....

here i have one basic doubt...

suppose we have changed someobject.. it will store in one request..

again if we change that object and saved in another request as you said...

do the second request contains the changes whcih we have done in first request too, or only changes done second time...???

pl clarify me...

hi,

to collect the requests related to ods object, can also use transaction se03 << search for objects in requests/tasks << entry R3TR ODSO [your ods name], choose 'modifiable' for status.

it should contains the last 'state' of the object, in other word, you can just use the last request for transport.

hi... if it contains the last state of the object in the final request....

what is the necessacity of transporting all prior requests along with the last request...

just simply if we transport the last request...it gets the object into production with the status we made in last request...right??? i'm curious... pl clarify me...

Hi Nith,

you need only to transport only the last one, this is clear!

Anyway, if you are not sure about OTHER objects contained in the request, it's better to close the request (or unlock the object) and insert only your ODS in a new one!

Anyway, don't forget that if you add a new infoobject in your ODS you have to transport not only the ODS definition but your new object too and the update rules....

unless the prior requests contains other objects have any dependency with the object, if just one object, the same one, then just go with the latest request

hi experts im really happy to knwo new things...

so if i transport my last request that is enough...

so here i have a problem...i have already explained that my object is used for practice after production.. so we are not sure the unnecessary changes made to this...

anyhow in the same object now we have added one info object and changed almost all realted things to this ods... like transfr rules, update rules, delta ini, delta...

so pl tell me how can i get only my changes apart from the other unnecessary changes...

is it possible...????

Nith,

as already explained, first of all identify what you need to transport, then chech if these objects are locked into some requests (with the same method suggested for the ODS before), unlock these objects or release the related requests and insert these objects in anew request again (via Transport Connection tool in RSA1, or simply by activating again the objects...)
