Prerequisites to host elearning content for SuccessFactors LMS

Former Member

Hello all,

We're currently implementing Successfactors LMS. We're also in the middle of implementing our whole SAP Business Suite on HANA as well.

In order to train our (key-)users, we're developing eLearning content that is for example SCROM compliant. We want to host that content on our own contentserver and provide this as a resource for the SFSF LMS environment.

Of course, SFSF is providing their iContent offering, but for several reasons, this is not our path to follow.

However, the opinion is formulated that specific configuration is required and java-packages are to be installed on the contentserver in order to meet our requirement. Unfortunately, those prerequisites are not clear and not described in any document I can find.

Question: Is there a cookbook for the implementation and configuration for both the SFSF LMS side and the contentserver side? Or any other document that describes the prerequisites?

My sales at SFSF is not able to provide me the answers unfortunately. Hopefully, you can provide me with some answers .

Regards

Hi E. Peeters,

There isn't really a "cookbook", per se, for non iContent servers that are supported by SF LMS but they do give out standard guidelines. I've gone through this several times with customers and have come up with my own recommendations around prerequisites that adhere to SFSF's guidelines which have seamlessly worked with linking non iContent servers to SF LMS. You've bought a great eLearning tool so hosting content somewhere else shouldn't be a deal breaker. I've sent you an email.

Best,

Sunny

Hello Sunny,

We too are implementing the SF's LMS.  The plan is to use our own content server.  Could you send me an email with your recommendation around prerequisites that adhere to SF's guidelines?

Thank you,

Stacey

Sunny, I'm actually being directed to replace an aging content server that houses a lot of passive content (no SCORM or AICC - we do have an iContent account).  Do you have those recommendations and are they applicable to a plain, vanilla web server?  For instance, IIS requirements and configurations, minimum build, tech reqs.,etc.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU in advance!

Prerequisited to host eLearning content for SF LMS when not using iContent.

Hi,

SuccessFactors don't provide information on other content servers other than iContent. You'll have to figure this out on your own, bring in someone that has done this, or hope that someone answers your question here.

Hi Luke,

Hope you are keeping well.

I need your help in case if you can provide me the "Template for Data Migration Strategy" in SF-LMS module.

This is the first instance when i have been indulge in implementation of SF- LMS module.

Amit,

I am assuming you have already started having discussions with the customer around what historical data they want to migrate, where it's stored etc. Depending on the type of data they have, SF LMS has the appropriate standard connectors that we use to pull that data into LMS. If you have gone through the LMS Mastery Training, it should have provided you all of the standard templates (csv) for the connector flat files. You should be able to find them on the partner portal. In addition, please review all of the LMS documents available on the partner portal as they are really helpful in implementing LMS.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Sunny
