Hi Expert,
In GRC 10.0, we have four types of connector group types as following.
Automated Monitoring Framework : Used in PC
Cross System Group
Logical Group
Application Area
I have used Cross System group for ARA(SODs Analysis in diffrent Environments) and Logical group for BRM.
is Application Area group type is mandatory for any components?
if not what is the use of this group Type?
Thanks a lot in anticipation for your response.

Hi Kumar,
the types of connector groups associated with Access Control are only:
- logical group - (used for creating risk analysis for logical systems and role management landscapes)
- cross system group - (used for cross system analysis).
Application Area is not used for Access Control, and during last couple of implementation of GRC 10.x I was not able to go through prototype where business case for using it would be vitable/usable,
Hope this helps,
Filip

Hi Filip,
Thanks a lot for your input.
I also have the same understanding regarding other connector groups. I have used Application Area in Access Control during my last implementation as per advice from my senoirs. But in my current implementation I have achieved all functionlity without this connection group type. Hence i wanted to get my doubt to be cleared.
So is there any use of Application Area outside AC?
Thanks Again for your prompt response.
Kumar Anurag
Hello,
If a client has a requirement that when a user searches roles on basis of business processes while creating an access request, and there is huge number of business processes - this functionality can help. If a connector group is tagged as "Application Area" business processes can be mapped to connector groups. User can filter business processes on basis of application area at role search -> business process screen. Also, though less likely there can be business processes with same name but belong to different connector group.
Thanks,
Sukhbir
