Outlook Plug-In distribution

Hi everyone,

we would like to distribute the outlook plug-in of Cloud for Customer via software distribution mechanism.

Therefore it would be good if we could provide the plug-in also pre-set with the C4C URL of our system.

Does someone know if it is possible to provide such parameters while installing this plug-in?

Thanks and best regards

Thomas

We store the history of the systems used in the registry. Today the system to be used cannot be specified before start up.

Since the customer is going to provide its own deployment mechanism, I would ask them to add this additional step where they create this registry key for the user (though I think at the time of installation the current user will be the admin, which may not work).

Anyways, we store the registry here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\Business ByDesign FrontEnd\History

Under this create a String Value - LATEST_Groupware. Set this value to the C4C system URL.

Hi, I'm new to this site and hope I'm posting this to right place. We are trying to automate the distributtion of the SAP Cloud for Customer Outlook Addon/Plugin. We made an initial attempt at commnad line silent/unattended installation but about 1/3 of the deployments failed to complete. We believe it's related the those targets not passing the pre-requisite checks where the manual install would propm the user to install the missing pre-requisites during the Cloud for Customer installation. Is there any SAP documentaion available for recommended automated installation options for this Outlook plug in? We need to be able to create silent/unattended installation for this plugin with ether an answer file to accept these prompts without user intervention, or a way to force the installation or acceptance of the prerequesites when needed without user intervention. We will be using Mange Engine Desktop Central for  the deployment once the desired command line options can be determined for consistent installation success. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, there are only 2 pre-requisites for the C4C Outlook Add-in.

1. VSTO 2010  -  Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42513)

2. .Net 4.0 - (http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/B/E/1BE39E79-7E39-46A3-96FF-047F95396215/dotNetFx40_Full_se...). If .Net 4.5 is installed, this is not required. .Net 4.0 and higher is fine.

The C4C add-in installer downloads this directly from Microsoft if they are not found on the target system. The prompts of the Microsoft installers cannot be controlled by us.

If you install these before installing the C4C Add-in, there should be no issues.

Thanks

Thanks for the quick response. Preinstalling the the two prerequesities in advance was the next path I was going go with if there were no other options. The confirmation here that those were the only two needed is a BIG help.  I will run with that scenario. Thanks again!

Hello Partho Guha,

We have a few users experiencing difficulties in getting the Outlook Plugin installed on their local machines, I am wondering if it's because they are lacking the pre-requisites that you refer to, however, I see this post is from 2014.  Is there a location I can go to, to find the latest system requirements for the Outlook Plugin?

Respectfully,

Sam
