BI LaunchPad on mobile browser

Hi Folks,

I have been working on mobile app of SAP and dashboards where one can access dashboards and webi reports.

May I know if BI LaunchPad can run on mobile browser (iPad/Andoid)? Is this possible ? Is that an appropriate way ?

HI Tejas,

you can surely open BI launchpad or CMC pages on any browser.

It can be safari or any browser on android.

Your device should be able to connect to your application server, thats the basic requirement.

Try to open http://servername:port on your safari browser. Make sure your ipad is in the same network as that of your BO server or application server.

Check the PAM guide if the OS running on the devices are supported by SAP BI platform.

I guess they are not.

The pages will open up, however there might be issues with zoom, display .. etc

Just to add to above, I tried on Android tab as it was available.

Need to check on iPad.

Anyways, thanks for the confirmation as I thought webi and dashboards can only be accessed from SAP BI app.

Hi Tejas,

Yes you can..

but as i said, this might not work as expected.

As Safari browser for IOS is not supported with BI.

It might give unpredictable results

Hi Tejas, if you are running the dashboards and WebI reports on mobile devices, you should be using the Mobile BI app instead of the browser. You can download the app on the App Store and Play Store.

Thanks for your inputs. I wanted to know if BI LaunchPad works in browser. I know best way to handle webi and dashboards is through BI app.

I remember I had worked with you on dashboards issues almost a year back in SAP Support.

Hi Tejas,

You can access BI Launchpad from a browser on iOS or Android but it is not a supported workflow, meaning if something does not work correctly on those browsers then SAP will not correct it.

You can consume Design Studio and Lumira content directly from the Safari browser on an iOS device.

Otherwise you should be using the SAP BI app from the Apple app store or Google Play store to access BI content.

Seems flash is not supported on iOS. Android, I was able to get it work on.
