can we Export/ Email / Schedule in SAP Design Studio 1.3 Report

Hi all,

Per SAP Design Studio 1.3 Roadmap, we seem to have the Print option available. Still do not see the below functionality

1. Export to Excel or PDF

2. Email as Excel or PDF

3. Schedule

Was wondering if anyone been able to achieve this using Design Studio SDK OR HANA XS based JSON / UI5 and been able to integrate with Design Studio

Hello Badri Sridharan,

Having listened to several webcasts, SAP has said most companies have the option of printing to a PDF, so printing is similar to exporting to a PDF (my opinion only).

In Design Studio 1.2 you can export to Excel - see

Once you are in Excel it is a few clicks to save and send as an e-mail message.

Scheduling...will defer to others if they have SDK's on this.

Hi Tammy,

Can export to excel be export to BOA Excel (using RAAOE function)? The standard export to excel is just a data dump to excel.

No, it won't go to BOA Excel - that sounds like a great idea for Idea Place (ideas.sap.com)

the export is a Excel file, it is not a Analysis Office or BEx file

Dear Badri,

my Company - BI Excellence Software GmbH - have been an SAP Partner with SAP for more than three years by now, offering an Export Feature for Web Application Designer. This add on allows you to Export to PDF, PowerPoint and Word.

We have now enabled this Export to work also with SAP Design Studio. It is also listed in the SAP store.

Hi Badri, thanks for your request. If you write to me by mail I can give you Details on pricing. We are currently working on adding the email Feature to the Export add-on. You will be able to specify one or more mail addresses of receipients that shall receive the document. For scheduling, we are still checking for requirements and possibilities. so far Design Studio is only offering an export to Excel or CSV - there is no PDF Export

Scheduling is also not available at this point and is also not part of the 1.3 release.

Thanks much Ingo for clarifying out of the box capabilities of Design Studio 1.3.

Was wondering if it is possible to provide the Schedule / Email / Export as PDF using Design Studio SDK OR UI5 (HANA XS)  and if anyone had achieved that.

Hi Badri,

we have created a Addon with the designstudio SDK which is able to export to pdf and powerpoint.

But it requires an additional server based component.

Thanks for the information. We have tried different ways using Base64 equivalent in UI5, but it is throwing an error when opening in Acrobat Reader that it is unable to convert.

Is it possible to share how you have done the Addon code please?
