Learning ABAP

Former Member

My domain is HR and currently pursuing SAP HCM.

I want to learn SAP ABAP too. Can I join ABAP and what are requirements for learning ABAP?

Any suggestion?

Thanks.

Hi Jane, Do you already program in another language? There are some good learning guides in Web. I can paste them if you want. And there is a book called ABAP Learning.

Unfortunately no I don't know any program in another language. It will be helpful for me if you send me some links.

Hi Jane,

there is a good forum (but only in german) apentia-forum • Forum anzeigen - ABAP® für Anfänger

I've learned it form the earlier version of this book with CD:

http://www.amazon.de/ABAP-Programming-System-With-CDROM/dp/0201675153/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1400604...

On the CD are some transports with example codings you can look at or change them and try.

What about asking the developers round you? Just let them give you example coding and you can practise with it. At some point you are able to develop the first small programs and out of analyzing your daily requierements you will get better and better.

A very good book is this one:

I read through it and it explain all the stuff very handy and with easy exercises:

Schrödinger ABAP (just available in german)

Another book I read good reviews

beginners guide to SAP ABAP (it is a kindle book)

and the last suggestion:

ABAP basics from SAP Press (it is a few days old, but it is well explained)

So now, go on and have fun. ABAP is an awesome language
