SAP Standard tables and Archiving Concept

Dear Experts,

i am junior to ABAP and SAP and in my working company currently ABAP FI related reports response time becomes very long (it affects the hole performance of the System)

and PO posting related issue .

1) we have tried to run those reports and process in background at night time but this can not be permanent solution

2) for example if we take (BSEG-table) it have more than 18.5 million records since it is Cluster table indexing concept is not useful in this case.

3) i think the best solution is Archiving the Table?( But since i am new to SAP-ABAP i need to have clear concepts of Archiving for standard and custom tables)

i.e. Drawbacks of Archiving Standard tables.

best regards,

There are no drawbacks as such in archiving data. Only data that is no longer needed for business purposes is eligible for archiving. SAP’s archiving programs ensure that only business-complete data is archived.
