Hi All,
Wehn we run a BEX query in Portal or in Bex Analyzer,we also have a "Navigation Pane" for free characteristics so that user can pull more characteristics in rows to analyze data or user can swap the default characteristics with characteristics from navigation pane for analyzing the data using different dimension.
Now, We are extracting data from BW system using same BEX Query as connection and then getting the output in WEBI report.
I don't think so similar flexibility is available in WEBI report. WEBI report has a fixed structure?? Is there a way to have a navigation pane or so in WEBI report so that users can do a three dimensional analysis like it is possible in BEX analyzer or in Web application designer in BW to pull more characteristics in rows etc.
Please share thoughts.
Thanks,
-Su
Hi Su,
To my knowlege there isnt a way to perform 'slice and dice' funcitons in Webi. We have used input controls to provide more advanced filtering and to show/hide characteristics however its not the drag and drop, change columns etc olap functionality from BEx Web
If its just BEx data that you are reporting against, you should probably look at either Design Studio, or Analysis (either for OLAP or excel) to handle these types of requirements.
I would love to hear how other people have used Webi to handle these sorts of situations however...

Thanks Ryan for answer;
Could you please share more knowledge around "Input Control" methods you have used? Such as some examples and threads which could show similar things which you have done.
I am trying to collect more ideas and then gonna build something user friendly+flexible method to approach this.
Thanks for help...
There are a few tricks on the Webi 4.x tricks page http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-50171
But this one I have used to dynamically show hide tables etc, wihch can be extended to hide/show other options.
Also to show/hide keys & text I found this handy
http://blog.davidg.com.au/2012/07/toggle-display-of-text-and-key-in-webi.html
Again its all not as flexible as BEx Web, but provides a little more functionality
Take a look at this by Tammy Powlas
May not be exactly what you are after, but should be close.
