question, can´t open IWs in SAP Netweaver Portal

I´m opening my company´s remote secure access SSL-VPN on he transaction launch pad, the available systems are SAP R/3 PHL 100

I have the choice of IW 38, 39, 32, AND 33.  When clicking to open all I get is a blank screen, I think this is using web gui.  I do have an option of right hand clicking to open in SAPGUI.  i have installed SAP net weaver 7200.2.6.1062, but the result of opening IW´s in SAPGUI only offers open or save file.  It will not run.  Does sap netweaver have to be programmed to work with internet explorer, or can I use webgui, and what is the blank screen about.

Any thoughts really welcome, thanks.  David

Hi David,

You will need to activate the ITS to be able to logon using WEBGUI on PHL.

Is the following WIKI useful?

Hi there, thanks for your advise, however, I am still having problems.  I should have explained that my access to SAP is through access.halliburton.com - using their Internet SAP portal.  When choosing to access an IW file, it gives two options, access via webgui or sapgui, when I click sapgui it gives me an option "do you want to save or open  tx.sapssd from access.halliburton.com".  When clicking to open I think it should use sapgui but doesn't open?  When I save the file, it saves, but when I go to open it, it is the same. I only have SAP netweaver for windows 7.2, is this ok?

Thanks again

Dave

Hi Dave,

Yes this message

"do you want to save or open  tx.sapssd from access.halliburton.com".

means it is trying to use the SAPGUI to open the link to access PHL.

This is a frontend client Software that would need to be installed on your desktop.

Here is the SCN link:

I think David is saying that he already has SAPGUI for Windows 7.20 installed (note, 7.20 is no longer supported, you should consider an upgrade to 7.30, but you must go with your corporate standard).  So, I would think the problem is either that the file type is not properly associated with SAPGUI on your Windows PC, or there is a configuration in your web browser which is preventing the automatic launch of a Windows application.  You might try reinstalling the SAPGUI to see if that re-establishes the file type association.  Which browser version are you using?  Also, what happens when you right-click if you choose the WEBGUI option instead of SAPGUI?

Hi Matt

thanks I  have installed 7,3 and it is associated with my internet browser, it pops up with message, do you want to open with sap login, this gives the option yes or no,, i click on no, then second option , what programme do you want to open with.  I think I need sapgui for HTML, does this come in the sapgui 7.3 installation or where can I get sapgui for HTML programme.

thanks again

Hi David,

If you wish to use "sapgui for HTML" i.e the WEBGUI - then follow the steps in my reply on the 19-05-2014.

What happens if you say 'yes' instead of 'no' to the question 'do you want to open with SAP Logon'?  Isn't that what you were trying to achieve?

The webgui is not a client you install on your workstation.  It's web-based.  Your system administrators have either enabled it on the server, or they haven't.  From your end, all you need is a supported browser (and perhaps a Java runtime environment, like the usual Oracle JRE 7, for certain operations like printing or exporting lists to local files).  So, you don't need to 'open' anything with the webgui.  You just put the URL in your browser and go.

Have you considered contacting your company's help desk?  I take it you're an end user of this system, and not the system administrator, right?
