Hi,

I wish to downgrade a Software Component with SUM because I wish a lower version.

With JSPM I could do it tih option go -config=/jspm/forceMode=true -config=/jspm/deployVersionRule=updateAll

Any clue?

You can undeploy and then redeploy a component with SDM in a lower version.  It is not required to restore the system from a backup.

If your NetWeaver version is 7.1 or higher, you may not have SDM anymore.  In that case, it's more complex, but there's a Wiki article on how to do this using the Developer Studio:  Deployment of SCAs that have a lower patch level than what is installed on the system - SAP Netweave...

Hi Matt,

only if it is a non SAP component. For standard SAP components you should not use SDM/Deploy Controller to undeploy unless you want to have a bad time by dealing with the possible (and most certanly) inconsistences that will emerge.

Hi Rafael,

I want to downgrade JSPM from version 10 to 6.

SUM updated JSPM and did not take the other SCA´s.

Right now I have not access to SolMan until next week so I really need to do something.

Any clue?

I'm not implying that it's a light decision to make, but situations do emerge where a system is already inconsistent and it is necessary to downgrade a single component to bring it back to consistency.  Only those experienced with such things and knowledgeable about the state of their systems should attempt this.  Usually, I would say to do so only under advice and guidance from SAP Customer Support.  However, in such cases, it can be done.  I have done it, a few years ago, and it did not ruin our system.

As always, when trying something a little edgy like that, practice in a sandbox first is advised, and good backups are advised.

Hi Jorge,

since JSPM is currently beeing phased out (JSPM will not longer be supported as of Q4 2014, right
now it is in limited support, check SAP note 1589311 - Replacements of outdated tools via SL Toolset) I would suggest you to use SUM to perform any SP stack or patch operation you must perform.

Regarding JSPM update, I strongly advise you to NOT downgrade it. It can be dangerous to the system, specially if it is PRD.

Sorry I don't have better news.

Best Regards,
Rafael

Hi Matt,

I agree with you in ask for the help of customer support. but for this kind of thing, development support have one single answer: It is not supported to downgrade packages.

The tool was not developed to work like this and such action was not tested by SAP DEV and QA teams.

For this reason we strongly recommend that the customer do not perform such actions with any SAP standard package.

Rafael

Hello Jorge,

It is not possible to lower a SP version in Java. The only option is to restore from a backup prior the update.

In JSPM, the option you've mentioned would allow you to redeploy packages to the same version already installed. This option exists in SUM as well (SAP NOTE 1824237 - Redeploying customized development components with SUM).

Hope this clarifies.
