Customer Tab in SAP DMS

Hello Everyone,

I have one requirement in which client wants to store some information respective to documents. Information will be inputted in the screen in the form of radio buttons ( i.e Bank Statement prepared 1. yes  2. No ).

Please suggest if any screen exit or enhancement available for adding customer tab where abaper can work to add these questions & radio buttons.

Dear Gaurav,

to be honest I think there is no such exit available. To achieve this you have to create your individual tab and then embed it into the standard screens of CV01N, CV02N and CV03N.

Pls also comment in my second query.

How to make field mandatory, Entry allowed does't look useful as still as No entry option is there.?

Yes Gaurav,

This too looks a tough question. This is not impacted much by the Entry Required tick in the CT04. I'll explore. If sime information is there I'll get back to you.

Hi Gaurav,

Definitely "entry required' tick mark in the characteristics would make that as mandatory while creating & saving the DIR. You can try this again.

And to answer your other question - I have one more query in another requirement. Can we make any restriction of login id's according to custom laws as screen is common for all user's. One custom user's are authorized to select custom characteristics values.

My understanding is that few of the characteristics in a DIR should be filled by few persons & not all. If it yes, then this can be achieved through 'org areas' in classification system.

Please let me know whether this is your requirement.

Pls also assist how to make field mandatory as after making characteristics "Entry required", I am able to save document without value.

Hi jogeswara,

This is in context of DMS. User's from different business area upload documents of Bank Reconciliation Statement ( BRS ).Now they wanted to store some other information while uploading the document. like BRS Prepared / Not Prepared , Approved / Not Approved etc.

Every business Area has its own responsible person also for BRS. While uploading document they will select bank code, but other information bank name, responsible person must automatically fetched as they are master data. I can create characteristics for Bank codes, Bank names, responsible person but how these values can be fetched on the basis of bank code..

Is it feasible.?

Assuming that you are going to feed this information through DMS Class/characteristics as explaned above, then a simple answer to your query would be:

Thanks for the quick. That i checked in classification tab in cv04n.

Is it possible to retrieve other details like bank name, business area etc on the basis of bank code.?

Hi,

Here is the Steps to Create Characteristic and Class.

  1. Execute T-Code CT04. Characteristic screen will display, enter the characteristic name and press Enter key.
  2. Change characteristic screen will display, Select Basic data tab and enter required details.
  3. Select Value Tab, here we can maintain the fix value for Characteristic. here you can give the Multiple Value for selection and Save.
  4. In this Way you can create Multiple Characteristic.
  5. Now, Create class to assign characteristics. Open T-Code CL02, enter class name & select 017 as Class Type for Document Management. here Class name could be your Doc Type name also.
  6. Click on Create Option, Change Class Screen will display, Click on Basic data tab and enter the required details.
  7. Click on Char. Tab, and add all the characteristics. Save the Class.
  8. Now Assign the Class in Document Type Configuration.
  9. In T-Code DC10, go to details of your document Type and select Class Type "017" and Class as you created.
  10. Now after config, you can check the same doc type in CV01N or CV02N , In Addnl Data Tab characteristics will be display,

Hi,

Can we retrieve master data on the basis of one unique number. ( e.g on the basis of SAP Bank code, i want to retrieve business Area, Bank Name etc. ). Is it possible using class & characteristics.

Where these fields values get stored.?

Dear Gaurav,

Here we are discussing Document Management System,

These characteristics information will be reflect in CV04N Report and it will help you to search the DIR on the basis of these characteristics.

If you are storing Bank Code in characteristics field then you will be able to filter the DIR on the basis of Those bank Code.

You can explore storing your custom data in Characteristic form in the Additional Data Tab of the DIR using Classification (017).
