Hi Kiran,
If this is a intermittent issue, please check the time out paramters as recommended by Anusha.

Dear Anusha/Sriram,
We changed the parameter as mentioned sap note for ICM but there is no use. it is giving same error and it is showing with RFC_COMMUNICATION_FAILURE and when i check in moni it is giving ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED and in smq2 messages are stucked with "Retry" Error. Please suggest why it is happening. All RFC connections test are success and good only.
RFC_COMMUNICATION_FAILURE error coming in communication channel for some times it is fluctuating as shown below screen shot.

Hi Kiran,
Change the HTTP time out value in ICM,It may happen that get a 'Connection Timed out' page as an answer a long time before your configured session timeout limit is reached. Usually this timeout is raised because of a processing timeout, which happens if you have long running applications.
Parameter in Kernel : icm/server_port_<nr>
Referance : Note 824554 - ICM and SAP Web Dispatcher Timeout Parameter.

HI,
Please check in SM59 -> INTEGRATION-DIRECTORY-HMI
Also did you had a look 'SLDCHECK'?
Please check below too:
1) SAPSLDAPI
2) SAPAPICUST
3) LCRSAPRFC
This may resolve your issue.
Thanks.

Hi Kiran.
Please confirm your source(SOAP) and Target(RFC) systems. As you mentioned its an intermittent issue. How frequent do you get this issue?

Sriram

Hi Kiran,
Check the ram of the server if it is running high on the times you get that error.
Reason being we had a similar issue on one of our clients. The server would run on 100% ram and then the ABAP stack was unable to talk to the java stack and then those RFC connections would start failing for a short period of time untill the load on the server decreased.
Then the solutions would be to add ram or to close applications on the machine that is not bein used.

Hi Kiran,
Can you check if RFC INTEGRATION_DIRECTORY_HMI is working fine. Also check the corresponding objects in SXI_CACHE

Sriram

Dear Sriram Ramani,
in ths case some scenarios are working good. proxy to soap, idoc to soap and jdbc to proxy, proxy to jdbc all are working with out error.
but my problem is in Soap to RFC case..
for all RFC communication channels are working but some time it is throwing RFC_COMMUNICATION_ERROR and messages are stucks in smq2 with retry.
when i check with retry error with in sxmb_moni log showing ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED with error code 400.
not for all signals for few signals for some time..
Why it is happening i can't understand.
in repository it is saying Repsitory object hmi failed and address already in use.
is there any problem with loading IR objects.
Please suggest me good suggestion for this type of issue what can do for this to resolve.

Hi Kiran
Can you please check SICF trx to ensure that the HTTP/HTTPs services are active .
Try to do a control restart of XI server to see if it resolves the connection issues , if not then you will have to involve the network team for in-depth investigation of the issue .
Try to isolate the scenario that are failing and if there is any relation of issue with the source/end system outage or at the network level in the organisation.
Best Regards
Srinivas
Dear Hanumantha rao,
1) i already did full cache refresh and checked the load perofmance of the system. Peroformance is good.
2) Checked the below connections in sm59 but tcp/ip connection are good
Under TCP/IP connections ->
AI_DIRECTORY_JCOSERVER
AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER
But still issue exist in the system.
please suggest me for further.

Hello,
In addition to the previous recommendation please also ensure the Adapter Engine Cache entry is correct:
1883631 - ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED 404 Not Found
If the entry is incorrect, delete it and resend a message.
Kind regards,
Sarah
