SmartForms - printing literal not data

Hello all,

well i got my first smartforms to compile a little while ago and now the problem i am having is when i want the value to print out it does not, it prints the literal.

example : &itab2-matnr&

it then prints out itab2-matnr, not the value..so what did i do ??
