Storage type search sequence

Former Member

Hi Experts,

In my warehouse, i have configured all my settings for normal putaway process

1.Define Storage Type Search Sequence for Putaway

2.Assigned Storage Types to Storage Type Search Sequence

3.Specify Storage Type Search Sequence for Put-away

4.Optimize Access Strategy for Storage Type Search: Putaway

My question is that when i have many different storage type in my warehouse, how the product will pick the storage type for putaway process.

I did all the settings but it was not selecting required storage type in my inbound process.

Thanks

Saba

Hi

Create Putaway control indicator in config and assign in mat mas /scwm/mat1.

same ptaway control indicator assign to WPT+Storage Type Search Sequence for Put-away  config under putaway strategy.

Create Bin in St type.

check storage type has standard rule and no HU check.

Suraj,

Thanks for your response.

I did all the configuration steps but however storage type & bin selection is not happening automatically.

During the WT creation , i need to manually input the bin location. Please let me know steps for the configuration.

Thanks

Please check whether you have sorted your bins for Activity and Activity Area.

Hi,

can you get a screenshot of the log when you try to create the WT?

You don't need a putaway control indicator and you don't need activity areas...

Juergen,

Is it mandatory to provide PACI in mat.mas.In a normal scenario, how the bin selection will happen. If i there is too many different storage type in the warehouse.

Please help me with me.

Hi,

you use the PACI if you want to control the storage type search sequence product specific. But aren't there tons of other fields to determine the search sequence? Warehouse process type, stock type, quantity classification, etc. The PACI is ONE of the fields, and the one which make the most work, because it is master data and needs to be maintained. There might be a lot of cases where you will use it, but why use it if there is no need?

What is "too many different storage types"? Why are there so many? And what is the difference and what do you use to find the "right" one?

Dear user ,

Kindly maintain PACI in material master , create storage search sequence for same and rty  creating  task.

Search sequence determines which storage type , bin to choose from  , please refer below screen shot , kindly revert incase of any  query.

PACI in material master .

Search indicator assigned to storage type , you can maintain multiple storage types.

Search sequence : system will try to putaway to first empty bin in storage type T020.

Hope it helps

Jinoy,

Thanks for your response. Can you please explain if there is no PACI assigned to MAt. Master. How the search search sequence will work?

Thanks again

Hello,

If you do not place PACI in Product Master, System will consider PACI as  Blank. Then, System look for Storage type search sequence with PACI Indicator as blank.

Dear  ,

we can always check that case  with blank entry in config and evalute as how system would behave , However as a best practise i think it is relevant to have PACI in material master to influence  storage type search.
