SMP3.0 database requirement for Agentry Apps

Former Member

Hi All,

SAP's Agentry based apps (Work Manager, Inventory Manager etc) do not require a database on SMP today. The SMP3.0 comes with Derby but the documentation is saying that Derby is not required for production installations. Does that mean that for SAP's Agentry based apps we would still need to have a dedicated database system even though it's not being used by the app?

Or is the Agentry part in SMP3.0 now using that database for anything like the synchronization process?

Thanks,

Christian

SMP 3.0 SP03, the Agentry.ini is moved to the SMP 3 database.  For Agentry Applications you still need connect to your backend database system, (as for the Maximo Applications, you will connect into Maximo's Database)

Thanks Steve.

So, that means we will require DB2, ASE or Oracle when installing Work Manager because the Agentry.ini is going to be stored in that database and Derby is not supported for production systems?

Did I understand that correctly?

Very close

that means we will require DB2, ASE or Oracle when installing SAP Mobile Platform because all SMP configurations are stored in that database and Derby is not supported for production systems.

Agentry Application or not, doesn't matter at the point the databases are needed.
