Clicking on Show Options link of search window gives list of choices user can enter/select to do searching. right?

In that there two Search Scopes: 1. Index Groups and 2. Folders (and Subfolders).

Now requirment is, i want to avoid Folders (and Subfolders) scope, i want my clients should do searching only in Indexes given.

Any fruits?

Hi Lakshmikantha

You can follow Ritu's very nice description of how to remove the Folders search scope. It is the only way to remove Folders and still give the user an option to select Index Groups and underlying indexes.

By implementing this solution, you have to pay attention to the following two points though:

1)

The user will no longer have the option to select more than one index group or one index. This is because the user now have to select data sources from a dropdown menu instead of checkboxes.

2)

In the dropdown menu index groups are listed first, then the seperate indexes. If you have a lot of datasources, this list will be really long, which is not particular user friendly.

If you cannot live with the above two restrictions you have to develop your own search component.

I am working on the appearance and functionality of the advanced search page for a customer like you and have spent a lot of time investigating in this matter. We decided to develop our own search component because our customers needs could not meet SAPs standard solutions.

If you would like to learn more about developing a search component, please read this article by Thilo Brandt:

Hope you can use the answer.

Hi Lakshmikantha,

You can do this by the following:

Goto:

System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> User Interface -> (enable Advanced Mode) Search -> Search Component Set -> select UISearchComponent (is default or the one ur using ) -> Edit and you can uncheck the required option.

Here, in the Component of Basic Function Search section, replace standard search input with search input indexes.

Using the above selection, there would be a textbox (for user to enter the keyword) + a dropdown showing all existing indexes (in same line).

Note: Had done this on EP6 SP9.

All the best.

Warm Regards,

Ritu

Hello Lakshmikantha

Also:

If you tried to follow Ritu's small "how-to" guide, then remember to press CTRL+F5 to clear the cache of the browser that the Advanced Search is opened in.

Just to make sure that the old search components isn't cached.

Kind regards,

I think it is not possible to only hide the search folders. You can only hide the whole upper area including the indexes.
