HI,

I am planning for an upgrade of jdi from sp12 to sp13. does that mean that to deploy the new .sca files on top of the existing one. or should i remove the JDI sp12 and isntall sp13.

same with case of NWDS.. i have nwds sp12 with many projects. if i upgrade my nwds to sp13.. are my projects gonna be there or not.. is there any way that i can take a backup of the projects that i developed and run the upgrade..

could you please help me in this regard..sorry if the questions are silly...

thank you

Hi Shiva,

You can deploy JDI SP13 SCa's on existing Sp12, when it comes to NWDS uninstall SP12 and install afresh SP13 any how you won't lose any application as long as your workspace is not deleted once NWDS SP13 is installed you can see all these applications.

Its better to keep WAS, JDI and NWDS are of same SP Level.

HI,

Thank you for the replies..

RK, If I uninstall and install NWDS. I think it is gonna

1.Disturb my class path settings of my projects..isnt it?

2.Disturb the global settings that I made in window--> preferences?

3. will remove all the plugins that I installed with my previous version??

If answer of all the above is YES, isnt it weird.. why is SAP not delievering an upgrade patch. I am little confused.

could you please clarify this to me.

Thank you

Hi Shiva,

The answers to 2nd and 3rd questions is yes if you uninstall and install the NWDS.

Project settings are not disturbed. Also the as to your 2nd question i believe the settin gs made in windows-> preferences are stored somewhere in the .metadata folder under the workspace. Hence those may also not go.

SAP is delivering the upgrades also. When you start the installation of NWDS if the installation detects another version of NWDS already installed it will ask if you want to upgrade/repair.

Please verify this. Start new NDS installation and then just check whether you are getting this poup for upgrade.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

In addition to Sidhart's views

as for as i know

1.Disturb my class path settings of my projects..isnt it?

I don't think this will get affeted

2.Disturb the global settings that I made in window--> preferences?

only thing is you have to set WAS Host and port once again and other editor preferrences that's all

3. will remove all the plugins that I installed with my previous version??

yes additional plugins you may have to put it in plugins folder(before doeing that check once is those plugins ate availble)

you can also update Sp12 to SP13, but i preffer fresh installation.

Hope thishelped you

Hi,

everything went smooth. I executed the exe, it asked for upgrade. I did it and it was upgraded as expected without disturbing anything.

RK, as you said, if i would hvae done fresh installation, I think i need to set the classpath and other plugins and other settings manually..becuase uninstall will remove all the files..

how will the fresh installation on my pc recognise the settings that i made to nwds that is already uninstalled.

please correct me if i am wrong.

thank you

Hi Shiva,

My answer is

If incase you added additional plugins (letus say themes plugins,CVS plugins etc..) to your Sp12 apart from existing Sp12 plugins, once if you uninstall SP12 additional plugins will get lost i.e why you have to replace all those extra plugins for your fresh

installation either it be Sp12 or SP13.

Hope that cleared the point.

Hi Shiva,

You ca deploy the new sca files on top of the old ones. Also after you upgrade NDS to SP13 your projects will not be affected.
