Using clobs in HANA

We are on HANA sp10 and we find that using clobs in views or sql causes performance issues and / or crashes.

Now I know it makes little sense to story a big document in a "structured" database but lets talk about the use case. The use case would be I have a table of defects and there is a column that represents what a user described was the problem. I'd like to store the "description" of the issue with the defect.

Will a clob not work in a calc view? Should I move them to another column type? any suggestions?

Mike

    Hi Mike,

In HANA CLOB can only store ASCII characters and if you want to store Unicode characters which can be achieved with HANA NCLOB.
