Here is a rundown of what I have.
I understand that SAP preforms Backward Scheduling for procurement parts when the Requirement Date is longer than the Total Delivery Time. SAP takes into consideration GR processing time, Planned delivery time, and Processing time for Purchasing and works back from the Requirement Date.
I am also aware that if the Requirement Date falls inside of the Total Delivery Time that SAP then switches to Forward Scheduling.
I cannot seem to find any sold information on Forward Scheduling and what SAP takes into consideration for the Release Date for the Purchase Requisition. You would think that the Release date would default as today’s date but that is not what we are getting.
We have a Dependent requirement in SAP with a date of 7/1/14.
This Dependent requirement drove a Purchase Requisition with a Delivery Date of 8/1/14 and a Reschedule date of 7/1/14. (Lead Time is greater than the Requirement Date so I think SAP has switched to Forward Scheduling?)
The problem I am having is the Release date for the Purchase Requisition is not till 5/16/14 and MRP created this requirement on 5/1/14. That leaves us with 12 business days that my buyer could be working this part trying to expedite the order but instead we have missed it when we run ME5A or ME57 due to the date range we are currently looking at.
Is there a way to adjust our setting to bring the Release Date on Forward Planning to Today’s Date or where do I need to look to figure out what the problem could be.
I have attached a screen shot of my MD04 screen for the part in question.
And thanks in advance for any help!
