Defaulting the 'Order Type' field of a Sales Order to 'web' vs. being left blank in SAP Business ByDesign

Hello

I am simply trying to find out if it is possible to change the 'Order Type:' field to default to 'web' (one of our ordering options) for new Sales Orders within SAP Business ByDesign.  The majority of our sales orders come into SAP via website so it would cut down on having to change the Order Type field to 'web' for every new Sales Order.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Boyd,

Is this an extension field?

I do not see that field in my standard SO view.

If this is an extension field you can change the default by going into "Adaptation" mode, select the field, edit, and change the default.

Greetings again, Hans!  I have a quick follow up question related to the original 'Oder Type' field inquiry that I was hoping you could assist me with.

After having success with your recommendation on how to change the default settings of the 'Order Type' field within a sales order to 'WEB' I had a second smaller issue arise.

I have noticed that when starting a new sales orders the 'Default Type' field is properly defaulting to our 'WEB' option however after I add an account name to the 'Name:' field in the top left corner of the sales order, the 'Order Type' field reverts back to blank and no longer shows the 'WEB' option we set as the default. Please reference the image I have attached below for a visual representation of the issue.

Is there somewhere in the settings where I can make a minor adjustment so the 'Order Type' field holds the 'WEB' setting in the 'Order Type' field after I add an account to the sales order?

I am also noticing that all incoming web orders we receive are not showing the 'Default Type' field as 'WEB' either.  Incoming web sales orders have the 'Order Type' field blank.  Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Boyd,

In which screen did you define the field and it's defaults. The "Simple" screen or the "View All" screen and how are you using these two screens?

I've had some issues in the past with "peculiar" behavior, when not having defined the extension field in the screen that I was using.

I was under the "View All' screen of a New Sales Order when I made the initial change to the 'Default Type' field.  I have attached another screen shot to show you the screen where I made my edits:

Hi Boyd,

I suggest you do the adaptation in both the simple view and the "View All" view. The views you are showing above are two different views, and I have learned from BYD, that you need to do the adaptation in both "flavors" of the screen.

If this doesn't help I'm running out of options, and would probably turn to SAP support.

Hello Hans,

With your recommendation I am still unable to get the 'Default Type' field to hold the 'Web' option after I add an account to a new sales order.  I am going to reach out to SAP support and see what they say.  I will report back once I find out more from SAP.
