role problem

Hello All,

I have a generic role. I however have to have this same role assgined to different other roles since all of them have the same content but I need to differentiate the roles by name.

I tried to paste the generic roles as delta links and change their ID's and assign them to users.

If i do this I am not able to view any content when I logon as the assigned user.

How can i fix this?

Also because I could not do the above I tried creating new roles for my need and delta linking the generic role under the new role. However this gives me another navigation level which I do no wish to have,

How can I fix this problem?

generic role

content under generic role

new role

generic role(delta link)

THanks

    Hi Vijay,

    Iam not sure wether you tried this. If not try it:

    Try assigning the generic role to the roles you want to contain it. In this way you can have different names to each.

    1. Goto Content Administration->Portal Content.

    2. In the portal content folder, open the Role(doubleclick) you want to add the generic role to.

    3. Locate the generic role. Right click on it and then choose option 'ADD Role To Role' and add as delta link.

    This works good.

    Naveen.

    Hai Vijay,

    You no need to create roles with the same content. Just try like this:

    1) Go to User Administration->Roles

    2) Search for generic role and click on Edit

    3) Search for Users or Groups you want to assign the role

    4)Add them and save.

    After that check it once whether the Entry point for the role enabled or not.

    I hope this will work for you.

    Hi Vijay,

    if you want only name change then you can

    1) create new roles with desired name

    2) assign it to orginal role , as delta link.

    So any change to original role will refelct to all roles.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards
