Problem with connection between EP and system R3

Hi,

I have installed EP 6.0 and my system R3 5.0. I like import bussines package ESS but, i don't find this BP with rol ESS, all bussines packages that i have found haven`t this rol. Where i can find this BP?

The other problem is that i not sure if i need create system for connect portal 6.0 with system R3 5.0 because i see user´s of system R3.

Any solution ?

    Hi There,

    The role you should be looking is 'com.sap.pct.best.ess' and not 'ESS'. This is the role that comes with the ESS business package.

    To have the ESS on the portal, it is not just enough to import the BP. The portal should be linked to an R/3 system. The place you see the user of R/3, you have to give the user name and password to the R/3 syatem(User Mapping).

    <b>NOTE:</b>If you are trying to get the ESS on the portal, the R/3 system should be ITS enabled. ESS BP does not work if there is no ITS system.

    My question now is if in system SAP R/3 release 5.0 also i need mount the ITS enable.

    Hi there,

    Yes. This is how it works:

    The iViews of the ESS BP are designed such that they link up to the transactions on the ITS after import.

    Eg: an iView for Time Entry would link to the ITS transaction CATW.
