I have a requirement to develop a data model for a client in the SAP HCM space. I am including Org data, Employee Data. In order to ensure I am aligned with SAP Best Practices; I need clarification as to the concept of "Data Model" in SAP HCM space. What are the elements of a HCM data model?

Thanks,

Hi Trina,

Here is link that will give you some details on what is data model and its structural concept.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/22/bd17c2460a11d188fe0000e8323d3a/content.htm

In SAP HCM, an organizational structure data model consists of three different levels to which specific elements are assigned.

1. The Enterprise Structure

The enterprise structure consists of the following elements:

• Client

• Company Code

• Personnel Area

• Personnel Subarea

2. The Personnel Structure

The personnel structure is defined by:

• Employee Group

• Employee Subgroup

3. The Organizational Plan

The organizational plan contains the following objects:

• Jobs

• Positions

• Persons

• Cost Center

Hope this helps.

Ameet,

Thanks for the prompt reply and I agree. Also, what about the Employee Personal Data aspect. The Pers, Admin Aspect. Also, Payroll. What should I expect to see in a Payroll Data model?

Thanks,

This was a reply on the question: What I should expect to see in Payroll Data Model? Maybe this was not a question.

Hi Trina,

For payroll, you need-

1. Payroll Area

2. Company Code

3. Work Schedule

4. Net Pay

5. Gross Pay

6. Employee Taxes

7. Net Payments/Deductions

Generally in data model you should not expect to see this all but Payroll area, Work Schedule and company code are required as those are master data elements that data model should record for payroll.

You can also record master data values that you see in WPBP and BT cluster as this will be part of general payroll elements.

For Pers Admin, you need to define-

1. Pers Admins you see in IT1.

Thanks,

Ameet
