Saving Dashboard into desktop from Launchpad

Hi All,

I have built a dashboard using Dashboard design on BEx queries directly and they have variables.

Now, we were asked by the client that they want to save the dashboard into desktop(any format like PDF,SWF,POWERPOINT) with the selected parameters.

My environment is BI 4.0 SP6 and BW 7.3

is it anyway possible to save the dashboard from BI Launchpad with selected data and parameters ?

Please help me out by your suggestions....

Thanks in Advance,

Ravi Kishore Y.

Hi Ravi,

You can save the dashboard on your desktop but there is no option to save it with selected data as you mentioned above.

After saving the dashboard on desktop and while previewing it, you need to enter the database or enterprise credentials to view the data. If you export the dashboard to any of the format like PPT or word or pdf, then you will be able to see the dashboard with particular selected data only(make the parameters selection according to the requirement and then export it). Here in these formats you cannot pass any paramaters to database(source data), ie., if there are any filters in dashboard level itself those can be seen but filters from database level cannot be executed in PPT or Pdf..

Hope this fulfills your requirement.

Hi Nirupa,

Thanks for your quick response.

But our client requirement is to export the file whenever he wants with selected parameters from Launchpad but not from the dashboard design desktop tool.

any more inputs ?

Regards,

Ravi.

Hi Ravi,

There is no option in BI Lauchpad to export the dashboard into required format.

As per my knowledge there is an option only for webi report for exporting from Launch pad.

Hi Ravi,

Every tool has a limitations to display the data, Viewing the dashboard in launchpad is the final option. As Nirupa said its not possible to export the swf file.

Or by using a opendoc method you can pass a value to webi or crystal reports and you can invoke them from there you can export the data.

From customer point of view they will be more interested to have this feature, kindly educate them about the tool limit buddy.
