Variable Screen - User Exit

Former Member

Does anyone know how I can map certain rows in a variable in the variable entry screen of a query with the rows of another variable. Both variables are defined using a customer exit, but I need to make sure that row1 of variable 1 is mapped with row2 of variable 2.

Please Help,

Nyrvole

Hi Nyrvole,

I assume you are still dealing with the same problem posted some days ago...

May be it's worth thinking of a different approach. You can add a new InfoObject to your data target which is populated in update rules with the concatenation of your two existing objects (e. g. characteristic 1 = 'ABC', characteristic 2 = '1000', new characteristic = 'ABC1000').

Then you create a user exit variable for this new characteristic, and in the exit you link the user entries for variables of the first characteristics row by row. You do not need to display the new characteristic in a query, just put it into the filter.

You can compare this scenario to exchange 0CALYEAR and 0CALMONTH2 by 0CALMONTH. Instead of selecting on two objects, you select on one.

If you need some more details, let me know.

I had proposed this idea to my manager but he would rather stay away from changing the cube. Creating a new infoobject would require some changes in update rules and possible re-load of data. He suggests that because the G/L Account and Division is compounded there should be a way to restrict on the G/L Account and also be able to take into consideration the division.

I agree that there should be a way, but I do not see that SAP has foreseen one.

The problem is that (as you have already analysed in a previous post) you cannot pass any SID-selection to the query interface.

At the moment I do not have any better answer, may be I have some time for a more detailed analysis tomorrow.
