Linking existing physical sample to new inspection lot

Hello Experts,

We use sample management in QM. The physical samples are generated for the inspection lot of a batch. But if the batch is required to be reinspected at a later instance during delivery, we would like to create a new inspection lot and connect to the existing physical sample of the batch. Can I do this automatically in background. Here is the scenario.

Inspection lot and multiple samples are created for a batch during goods receipt from production. Inspection is completed, UD is done, stock is moved to unrestricted. While PGI to customer I would like to create a new inspection lot for the batch and attach to the existing physical samples of the batch and move the stock to quality.

I know new lot can be created for existing sample but this is manual and not relevant to stock posting.

Thanks

Prathib

Hello Apologies for the delayed reply. Few characteristics in the sample are optional which need to be inspected for selectec customers. This will be done just before delivery.

So we need to create a new lot and link it to the existing samples and copy the already recorded results. As part of new inspection the optional characteristics will be inspected and UD will be performed for the lot.

Thanks

Hi,

As per your above statement, on receipt from Production an inspection lot is created, stock is under quality inspection and as per the settings sample is determined and UD/stock posting performed on the lot to move the stock to UN-restricted. This means quality inspection is completed for the batch and the stock is moved to Un-res. Hence this is available for sale to customer. When you create a delivery against a sale order to the customer, this batch is getting determined so why do you want to do a quality inspection again on the same batch ? Doesn't it look repetitive ?

Thanks,
