SMP3 - AppDevelopment (Mobiliser):

Hi, I have a question on SMP3 and AppDevelopment (Mobiliser):

How would I develop an  mobiliser dependent application. If the mobiliser instance resides in SMP 3.0

Is there any app development guideline/tutorial provided for the same?

The Mobiliser server components have been integrated into SMP3.0 and are actually the same components that are used for the standalone Mobiliser 5.1 SP03 release (also referred to as 5.1.3). The difference is in the packaging.

Documentation for the Mobiliser 5.1.3 can be found here : http://sybooks.sybase.com/sybooks/sybooks.xhtml?id=100066&c=firsttab&a=0&p=categories

Now for the less obvious part …

The Mobiliser sample/reference mobile apps (aka Smartphone Mobiliser) and the build scripts required to build for iOS, Android, Blackberry and Mobile Web are part of the Mobiliser 5.1 SP03 release only. The apps didn't make it into the mobile platform, except for the build output of Mobile Web. With the build scripts mentioned, we did create a Mobile Web version that is included in the SMP3.0 server. This is a separate bundle that needs to be activated via the admin cockpit.

If you want to leverage the Smartphone Mobiliser product, you will have to use Mobiliser 5.1.3. Not sure how this works out from a sales/customer point of view. Let me know if you have issues with this.

Technically, the web services used by Smartphone Mobiliser to interface with the server are identical for SMP3.0 and Mobiliser 5.1.3. So Smartphone Mobiliser apps can work with both SMP3.0 and Mobiliser standalone. Mobiliser apps will directly interface with the smartphone web services.

Hope this helps.

Thanks much for your reply, Ludo. We are trying to build a solution which combines the developer tooling benefits of SMP 3.0 and the banking-related services on Mobiliser. We have below questions on same:

  • Are there any Mobiliser related APIs in the SMP 3.0 native client SDKs ?
  • As mentioned, if the web services for Smartphone Mobiliser are same as before, Are they still available on the Mobiliser or in the form of some sort of oData service on the SMP 3.0 server ?
  • Is the Money Mobiliser services console (oSGI one) available on the SMP 3.0 as a dashboard ?

The web portals and Smartphone Mobiliser are mentioned in the SMP 3.0 documentaion as reference apps, but the money mobiliser services seem not be mentioned.Since the portals and Smartphone Mobiliser need these services to function, they must be on SMP 3.0

Let us know your comments!

The SMP3.0 Native client SDKs do not provide anything related to Smartphone Mobiliser. The only piece related to Mobiliser is SMS Builder (formerly known as Brand Mobiliser).

Smartphone Mobiliser does not use any Kapsel plugins.

The web services are the same on SMP3.0 as they are on Mobiliser. I think they might even be available as OData services, but we did not implement OData support in the Smartphone Mobiliser reference app.

The web portals for admin, customer support, operations, etc.  related to Mobiliser are still available on SMP3.0. Make sure you activate the Mobiliser bundles via the SMP3.0 Admin cockpit. Mobiliser is not running by default.

Hope this clarifies.

Ludo

Can you check

Note: SMP 3.0 hasn't released in the market. It is still in Ramp-up. Only SMP 3.0 SDK available in service marketplace as of now.

We are trying to deploy a Mobiliser App on SMP 3.0. Not sure how the request will be routed from the mobile appliation. Will it hit the SMP 3.0 server and then Mobiliser or it hits Mobiliser directly ?

The documentation for Mobiliser on SMP 3.0 is limited , please do redirect us to relevant docs/tutorial/etc for developing mobiliser apps on SMP 3.0.
