Error during PGR - TO creation

Hi ,

During PGR for an Inbound delivery , the below error is triggered,

Steps: PO - VL32N - Create TO - when I try to save the TO, I am getting the error " the storage type does not allow negative stock."

And it populates for soruce or destination bin screen.

I know that particular Storage type does not allow negative stock.

But when we do the GR in MIGO for the same PO, it does not throw this error, or it does not populates for soruce or destination bin screen.

It gets posted successfully.Only differance which I could notice is MIGO creates TR and then TO.

Please let me know what setting am I missing? so that I can do the same for Inbound delivery also.

Thankyou,

Ravi

Simply allow negative stock for  ST 902.

OLML => Warehouse Management => Master data => Define Storage Type.

Double click your ST 902, and set indicator "Allow negative stock" on the next screen.

This is standard and shouldn't have been changed since it is absolutely required in case you are using IB deliveries.

Unless you use a HU-managed storage location. Then you can post GR before creating the TO.

Think of the 902 st at an interface for IM and WM level inventory management...the MIGO posting creates a positive quant in 902 (can be considered IM level) for further putaway into the WM level of your warehouse. 902 is an interumm storage type

In the same way a GR with inbound delivery genarates a negative quant in the 902 storage type basicaly mapping the stock situation between IM and WM - when the Tranfer order for inbound delivery is confirmed the IM level is upadted to reflect the positive balance (offsetting the negative balance) leaving only the positive balance in WM - this positive balance is also refelcted in IM level but no longer in any interum storage types

This is turning into an excise of decribing the same thing in the most ways possible...

Hi Ravindran,

Can you check if Shipment type is properly set up as Putaway for 101 Mvt at the Movement type Configuration in the below path:

SPRO >> Logistics Execution >> WM >> Activities >> Define Movement types

Are you posting the GR for the Inbound Delivery before creating the TO? Because that's what MIGO does, and you seem to be getting negative stock in 902 interface.

But you didn't answer by question, are you posting the PGR  (for the IBD) before creating the TO?

I am posing PGR for IBD, by creating TO, but while saving the TO, I am getting the below error

" the storage type does not allow negative stock."

I know that particular Storage type does not allow negative stock.

But when we do the GR in MIGO for the same PO, it does not throw this error, or it does not populates for soruce or destination bin screen.

It gets posted successfully.Only differance which I could notice is MIGO creates TR and then TO.

When you do in MIGO it doesn't throw the error because you are posting the GR (101 in MM) before creating the TO. This means you have stock in the 902, so no error occurs.

When you do it via IBD you are creating the TO before doing the GR so the stock in the 902 interface is zero.

And by the way, as far as I know the standard system ships with a 902 that allows negative stock, so if you are getting the error someone probably changed the configuration.

When SAP "populates for soruce or destination bin screen" what source storage type is proposed?

902 ST

Then you need to check your storage type settings and maintain them to allow negatives.

EDIT: LE- WM- MD - define storage type

Hi Joao,

Can you explain with some more addtional details on the first part? since MIGO creates TR and then TO.

When you do in MIGO it doesn't throw the error because you are posting the GR (101 in MM) before creating the TO. This means you have stock in the 902, so no error occurs.

There are two ways to the process the GR:

Scenario 1:

  • 101 in MIGO
  • TO Creation and Confirmation

Scenario 2:

  • TO creation and confirmation
  • 101 in MIGO.

Looking only at interface 902:

  • in the first scenario you get: +100 UN after 101 in MIGO, and 0 UN after TO confirmation;
  • in the second scenario you get: -100 UN after TO confirmation, and 0 UN after 101 in MIGO.

If you don't allow negative stock in storage type 902, you will get an error in scenario 2, but not with scenario 1 because the stock is never negative.

Hi Joao,

I am clear with the inbound delivery process, but I am not getting the MIGO process

My MIGO Process:

1.In MIGO, it creates TR and then TO.

Just explain the role of 902 ST here?

Let's bring back your original question:

PO - VL32N - Create TO - when I try to save the TO, I am getting the error " the storage type does not allow negative stock." -

This is my scenario 2, so you get the error.

But when we do the GR in MIGO for the same PO, it does not throw this error, or it does not populates for source or destination bin screen.

This is my scenario 1 so you don't get the error.

Please let me know what setting am I missing? so that I can do the same for Inbound delivery also.

Like Mihailo Sundic already answered (but you failed to acknowledge):

OLML => Warehouse Management => Master data => Define Storage Type.

Double click your ST 902, and set indicator "Allow negative stock" on the next screen.

Please mark his answer as Correct and close this discussion.

Hi Ravi,

Are you able to create the TO successfully if you are receiving it using MIGO - TR- TO??

Yes Gopi, I am able to create MIGO successfully and the and GR is getting posted.

TR to TO is happening in background, no destination or source screen pops-up.
