SAP Netweaver ABAP vs SAP Netweaver AS ABAP

Hello,

What's the difference between SAP Netweaver ABAP and SAP Netweaver AS ABAP ?

Can i install these versions on my personal computer (not a server computer) ?

Hello

AS means application server, it is used in a distributed installation of NW, where the DB or Central Services (formerly called CI, Central Instance and now called PAS, Primary Application Server) are installed on different host. For a basic installation all can be installed in a single instance on one host.

Windows 8 is not officially supported, maybe it is possible to install NW on it but I did not found any information about that

Hello,

Let us not forget also that a license is needed to be able to legally install an ABAP system on a personal PC (except a trial system downloaded from SCN).

Hi Mehdi,

AS implies Application server

NW ABAP : ABAP stack which will included Database+ CI

NW AS ABAP: will include Application or dialog instance
