Problems in Change PHYS_MEMSIZE

Former Member

Hi guys,

I´m new in SAP World, and trying install Netweaver in my Windows 7 64 bits notebook... I had been depared with the following error:

       An error occurred while processing option SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 2 > SAP Application Server ABAP > MaxDB > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step :ABAP processes of instance NSP/DVEBMGS00 [ABAP: UNKNOWN] did not start after 10:10 minutes. Giving up.). You can now:

  • Choose Retry to repeat the current step.
  • Choose Log Files to get more information about the error.
  • Stop the option and continue with it later.

Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/NW702/AS-ABAP/ADA/CENTRAL/.

The solution is simple: change PHYS_MEMSIZE to a lower value... but how? Is there any file in Windows path where I can do it?

I simply want to change PHYS_MEMSIZE value in some place and try finish the installation... MAXDB installed, Server installed, but can´t star service because I´m 8 GB of memory here 😞

Please help me... one place, one file... only to change this PHYS_MEMSIZE value.

Thanks a lot.

Hello,

To be exact the parameter PHYS_MEMSIZE should be defined in the instance profile file:

<SAP drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\profile\<SID>_DVEBMGS00_<Hostname>

88416 - Zero administration memory management for the ABAP server

As of kernel version 7.20, you can specify PHYS_MEMSIZE relative to the size of the main memory as follows:

PHYS_MEMSIZE=20%

If you want to change the PHYS_MEMSIZE parameter value then you should check the instance profile present in the profile directory \\sapmnt\SID\profile
