Transport of ID objects

Hi,

I have a very basic doubt. As we know we have two ways of tranporting objects in PI. CTS and File system. When we want to transport the ID objects alone, i.e there are no IR objects for the scenario, can we do a file transport itself? And when we import the ID objects by means of configuration scenario, will the communication channels ger imported along with the credentials?

Regards,

Lavanya R

Hi Lavanya,

Yes, of course you can do a file transport of the ID objects where a .tpz file will be generated. You can either download the tpz file in the local system if you select 'Client' while exporting objects or in the standard server location if you select the 'Server' option while exporting through File System.

>>>And when we import the ID objects by means of configuration scenario, will the communication channels ger imported along with the credentials?

Yes the credentials and settings maintained in the Communication Channels will not be imported....so its better to uncheck the option "Automatic Activation" while importing the ID objects to in the target system and activate the same post reconfiguration of the channels..

Hi Lavanya,

File or CTS+ both have the same functionality in terms of transporting ESR and ID objects.

you choose file or cts+ both will work.

And when we import the ID objects by means of configuration scenario, will the communication channels ger imported along with the credentials?

it wont.you have to edit in respective environments. i too had similar doubts when i started transporting objects.
