I'm looking at installing the pc client for ase 16 and I'm very confused. For 15.7 there was a separate pc client download, but I'm not finding that for 16. I see in the install doc :
There are several components that you can install onto a PC client to support the SAP ASE
server, which are downloaded from the SAP Service Marketplace (SMP). The previous PCClient
installer is replaced in ASE 16.0 by separately downloadable installers that provide
many of the same components.
Do I need to download and install the SDK just to have a client to connect to a database? Or is there another installer that I'm missing? Also, would the 16 client be able to connect to sybase 12.5 databases? I am very frustrated so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hi Terri,
As per sybase info link you need to download SDK for Sybase 16.0 from the link below
Info: SyBooks Online
The SAP Service Marketplace provides both 32-bit and 64-bit SDK for SAP® ASE images. Download the software development kit (SDK) that matches your version of Windows (32- or 64-bit).
Use either method to obtain the SDK from SAP Service Marketplace > SAP Software Download Center:
Also you may look for sybase Central control for performing Database Administration.
This should be available with the installation.
Hope this helps.
