HANA Installation Certification when needed ?

HI,

which SAP certification is needed to install a production HANA System ? Is it only needed at the first installation or also at an upgrade, for example HANA 1.0 -> 2.0 ? How does SAP know that this particular system was installed by a certificated person ?

Thanks

Lukas

Scenario 1:

Not when you are doing a DMO https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2428170

SAP Indicates that it is recommended to have OS/DB Migration certification (which means not mandatory, but would help)

Scenario 2:

For OS/DB migrations yes you need and it is a must, or you will not have support for the process from SAP

Scenario 3:

Yes, C_HANATEC_XX (there is a new one every year or other year) allows you to perform SAP HANA TDI installations.

So, for a new install project you need one certified consultant, or hire a resource with such certification for this important tasks which are from running the installer.

Deploying the tenants and creating a cluster if this is the case, takes less than 10% of the total basis project's task effort, so this will not cause any ominous budget leak.

Scenario 4:

When you deploy on a certified appliance it is already installed, so no need in this too, this was done by a certified expert before.
