Windows 7 SAP GUI connection error - partner IP_Address:sapdp00 not reached

Former Member

Hello,

I have SAP GUI installed on my windows 7 laptop (new). I have connections to two SAP systems (SD and CRM). The connection to SD works fine, but the connection to CRM fails with error 'partner ip_adrress:sapdp00 not reached''. I have the SAP GUI installed on another PC (windows XP) which works fine.

Did couple of checks as per some posts. The services file has entry sapdp00  3200/tcp. ping to the ip address also works fine.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you all for your resposes.

I forgot to mention - i am using VPN and then connecting to the SAP systems.

Ahamed -

Both my systems are laptop. The SAP GUI version on Windows XP laptop is 710 and that on windows 7 is 720.

Where is the host file located? (I am a newbie :-))

I did not find sapms entry in the service file on both my old and new laptops. But i do see entries sapdp00 to sapdp99 and sapgw00 to sapgw99. The service file i am looking at is located under c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc.

Sriram,

1. In windows 7 any firewall blocking? - I don't think so. But how do i check that?

2. Are you able to ping the SAP host (Ping (SAP Host name)) - Ping to host ip address works fine. I dont have the hostname at the moment. I will try that and let you know.

3. Check the SAPGUI 7.20 patch level? File version 7200.1.0.1050, build 1149093, patch level - 0

4. Check the CRM System instance number - 00

5. you can also try to connect SAP CRM by command in start - run - type SAPGUI (CRM Host or IP) (CRM instance number) - Did not work. Same error

Deepak,

ping worked fine

Hi

Just add the local host enter with normal & FQDN

eg

(IP address) SAP hostname

(IP address) SAP hostname.companyname.com

Hi

In your laptop you can find the host file on C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

just add the enters of CRM system for DNS resolutions

Hi Sreedhar,

Please check whether entries in SAPGUI are correctly maintained.

Check the connection using ping <ip address> from your machine.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Please check whether both the SAP LOGON GUI in PC and Laptop version are same. Also check for the host file in the laptop. Also in the Service file change the entry to SAPMS<SID>  3600/tcp and leave a blank space at the bottom of the service file, save it and try again.

Please let me know if this helps.
