Modeling Cube

Hi Gurus,

I have a planned ship date from the deliveries header....the requirement is to use that as a dimensional charchteristic in the Cube and the users want to see the delivery number as a Nav Attribute of Planned ship date....this is possible only if u model the delivery number as a a nav Attribute of the info object Planned Ship date....is this the right way of doing it, considering that delivery number is a document number???

Thank You

No, this is not the right way, since you have more than one document linked to a single date.

For your requirements it's enough (ot better, you have) to manage both the document numner and the planned ship date in your provider.

Hope it helps!

Hi Roberto,

Thanks for the reply. So r u suggesting that i use 2 different dimensions for planned ship date and delivery numberin the cube or have planned ship date and delivery number in the same dimension and seperate chars??????

Thank You

Hi Southie,

As far as possible, it is always a good idea to have the document number in a dimension all by itself and mark this dimension as a line item dimension.

Hope this helps...

No Southie,

as Bhanu said, it's not a good idea to put all in the same dimension...my previous answer only means that you have to manage both as separate char and not as attribute (of the other one)...
