Accessing file on BOBJ Server through 4.0 Tools

Hi all,

I need to build a universe based on Excel files that are to be dropped on the BOBJ server because we are not allowed to have a connection to the source system.  I'm not sure where to start with this - everything I have tried in the IDT tool doesn't seem to work.  Can anyone who has done this before provide some guidance, specifically some steps to establish this connection (if a connection is even required for a file that exists on the BOBJ server?)

Hello,

on the BI Server you need to create a File share. After that place the Excel Files in there. The third step would be to create an 32 Bit ODBC Connection to this Excel File via the UNC Path (\\biserver.domain.com\sharename\excelfile.xls).

Please note that you need that ODBC connection on the BI Server and on every Client Workstation running the IDT.
