Remove existing Translations of PCD content

Hello Experts,

We need to remove the existing translations for few roles which we did earlier and set it to Original one. as if we try to import the back up it will overwrite other data as well...so pl let us know how can we revert the existing translations for specific PCD content and set it back to original one.

This translation was done earlier via standard method i.e Portal Content Translation, creating & releasing worklist.

Hi Tia,

We cannot restore the earlier version of translation by one click. If you want to change the translation then you need to do the translation once again as you did before.

Did you change it for the standard SAP roles or did you do for the custom developed roles?

Hi Mahendran,

These we have to do for SAP standard roles, that is true that translations will be maintained by following the same process, but here issue is, to maintain it, atleast I should know what translation was maintained earlier for that specific standard role, then only I can proceed and restore it back to original one. so just want to know if there is any process where we can see or remove the user defined translations for the SAP standard roles??

Hi Tia,

Then you have to re deploy the standard roles that you have translated. If you changed the roles from any business package provided by SAP, then you can re deploy the Business package again . By this you will once again have the standard role with standard SAP provided translation.

This will reduce your work of re translation.

it is always advisable not to edit the standard component provided by SAP rather you can copy the standard objects and edit as you want so that you can always maintain the originality of the SAP objects.

By the way, is that from any business package?

Yes, I am aware about that (I have already mentioned above) we can by re-importing but if we do like this then it will overwrite translations for all content residing in that role, like iview,workset, page which we do not want to do as it would be rework for us and we have many more roles for which only iview or page to be set to original translations i.e to standard one.

Hi Tia,

Then mention the Business package and list of the roles for which you need the translation and in which language. Those who has the business package can check and let you know the right translation in this forum.
