Please help

(I`m very sorry for my English)

In my work, we use Sybase as DB for store all information. This computer has ip 200.x.x.x with port 5000 with ASE 15.0.2

I want to connect to that DB; in Windows i did download ASE 15.4 and Sybase Central comes with the installation. I just edit sql.ini to add

and no problem to start Sybase Central

But now, the computer has Linux (Mint 16 Cinnamon, 64 bits) and the recent version of sybase ASE 15.7 doesn`t has the sbcentral folder and can't use Sybase Central.

It's very complicated to download SQL Anywhere, buy i finally download it.

When i try to connect, use SQL Anywhere 12-> Connect to database

In the dialog window, i set the follow:

User id: sa

Password: ****** (the password in 200.x.x.x)

select "Connect to a running database on another computer"

host: 200.x.x.x

port: 5000

server name SII (the same name as 200.x.x.x)

database name bdtec

Appears :

19:58:52 Connected to server over TCPIP

19:58:52 Communication function ApplicationConnect code 4

19:58:52 Client disconnected

19:58:52 Cannot connect to server

When do the same proceed but without server name, the next error is

20:00:18 Connected to server over TCPIP

20:00:18 Writing server address 200.x.x.x:5000 to sasrv.ini cache

20:00:18 TCP/IP WARNING: received spurious packet from 200.x.x.x, disconnecting

20:00:18 Connection was dropped (may not be a SQL Anywhere server)

20:00:18 Client disconnected

Please, help!!! :_(

    Best solution: DOWNGRADE!!!!

New ASE is useless, uninstall complety, search for 15.0 version, and everything goes perfectly!!!

    Hi Rcardo,

What version of ASE did you install?

Sybase Central is EOL and will not be included in any new ASE versions.

You can try going to Install and Upgrades and downloading the ASE 15.7 Refresh linux x86-64.

Based on the file list dbisql and asep folder are included:

Looks you're connecting to ASE with sybase central of sql anywhere and that's not doable!

You need to download client for ASE(or install an ASE Express Edition), then you can use the 'isql' utility to connect to your server.
