BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2: Pass component liens for BoM with variant configuration

Hi, we are trying to sales order in SAP using iDoc

SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2 (BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2). We were able to create orders for material that has variant configuration and is a BoM.

The issue we found now is that if I pass the BoM component line items in a sequence that is different from what SAP would have created (as part of BoM explosion), it would output an error V1 283 'Material in item xxxxx cannot be changed'. We have our technical resource debugged the program and found that the system will capture the sequence of the components first and then compare with the items we have entered in the segment E1BPSDITM. If we put the components in the same sequence as that expected in SAP, then the order is created successfully.

The reason why we are passing the component items is because we need to pass manual conditions at component item level. So, we want to control which items we are passing the value for. We would have no idea how SAP is going to sequence the components since our data comes from an external system. I also notices that we cannot pass schedule line details for the component line items.

Can someone please confirm whether it is standard SAP behaviour that we cannot pass the component lines of the BoM item with variant configuration? Or that if we need to do so that we need to do it in the right sequence? We tried looking at SDN but could not find anything relating to this.

Many thanks

SF

Yes this seems to be standard. By the way, did you try creating the sale order manually by keying in the components in different sequence ?
