Confirmation of Serialized Materials in EBP 5.0

We are attempting to perform confirmations in EBP 5.0 for goods with serial numbers. This is standard funtionality in the R/3 backend. Does there exists any OSS note or SAP authored response to enable this functionality within the SRM system or is it entirely development to obtain this functionality? We have serial numbers for materials working in the R/3 system and wish only to mimic the same functionality in EBP leveraging the exisiting interface to R/3 for confirmations (the IDOC MBMGR01 which has the serial segment already defined).
