Access UK Demo company with sample code

I have installed both UK and US demo companies. Using the SDK sample BASIC code, i can access the US database, but when i try and access the UK database, the responce is ' - ' in a message box. Creating a new company in SBO is OK, just the UK demo company is the problem. Any ideas?
