I want to patch a three system landscape with an actual support package stack.
The point of the matter is that I don't want to import all packages in one queue. I want to split it into many queues.
As result I will create more than one SPDD/SPAU transport (one for each import queue), which I want to import into the following two (QAS, PRD) systems.
Is this a possible option, if I will import the support packages in the following systems with identical import queues?
What is the preferred client for SPDD/SPAU? Does the client matter in case of doing SPDD/SPAU for support packages? Support Packages only include client-independent objects, right?
Rgds, Bernd
Hello Bernd,
If you are going to import the stack components into 3 bacthes ,you might get 3 SPDD and 3 SPAU requests in Dev.
You must follow the same procedure in QAs and PRD i.e import the 1 SPDD/SPAU while 1 set of SPs are getting deployed and so on.
However why do you splitting the stack into 3 sets(It will be difficult for you to check and calculate the dependecis in between the componments while seperating the patches int groups ,For example SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABAP are interdeppendent on each other and if you put them into two batches ,you need to check for the dependencies)
Instead it would be better to put all componets at one go ,so that system it slef calculates the depndencies and inport the patches accordingly ,with this you will have only 1 SPDD/SPAU to be imported in QAS and PRD.

Ok, thank you. I have no other choice than splitting it into more than one queue (batch).
Do I have to have use the "select for transport" option or is this not necessary when importing support packages using SPAM through a three-system-landscape? Can I select the transport in the following system manually?
Thanks ahead.
Rgds, Bernd
So I have to options:
1. Select the request for transport in SPAU/SPDD and add it the the import queue in the next system.
2. Don't use select for transport in SPDD/SPAU and import the released request manually when SPDD or SPAU is reached in the next system.
Right?
Is it possible to select more than one transport in SPDD/SPAU and add more than one modification transport to the queue?
Regards, Bernd
