Hi,
We have various retail brands in our company and our SAP solution is a Wholesale based SAP AFS solution. Currently, Our Wholesale business can be reported out of SAP at a brand level, but retail business cannot be reported. We would like to report Retail business (Retail Stores) at brand level. Can you suggest any ideas around this as to how we can achieve brand level reporting in SAP for Retail businesses.
Thanks and Regards,
Satish
Hi Satish
I have worked in one of my projects in this kind of a scenario. We had multiple retail brands which were Business Areas in SAP. We also had did kind of requirement to have a store as well as Brand Level reporting.
We did the following:
1. Created all Stores as Internal Orders and Customers in SAP.
2. The Direct Sale to Stores would flow into COPA through SD Integration
3. All Finance related expenses were booked through Internal Order where Business Area was also assigned.
4. There was a settlement rule created where the Finance related Exp were settled to COPA at Customer , Business Area level.
5. The common expenses like Adversting & Marketing, Discounts and Allowances were apportioned to Brand through COPA Assesement.
6. This enabled us to have both above the line and below the line P&L Balances in COPA.
P.S - If you have a BI Solution implemented, you can also look to bring in the secondary sales made by the stores into COPA through an upload from retail system or building a BI Interface to retail system
Hope this helps
Thanks & Regards

Hi Satish
Did you explore SAP Retail integration with SAP AFS.
Check the link for more details
SAP Library - Integration with Other Components
Secondly I would like to know which Reporting tool would be used to report profitability. I am sure, you maybe looking at COPA. With distribution channel defined as Wholesale or Retail business, you can get the results easily evaluated in COPA. Brand related information would either be maintained as Material group or custom fields in material master (sales view)
PS: I havent worked in AFS, so not sure if I am talking sense. Pardon me if my suggestions are not applicable.
Hope the above information is useful

Mustafa

Hi Mustafa,
Thanks for your response. We currently do not have SAP Retail in our company. We use Island Pacific as our Retail system. Also our reporting system is Hyperion Essbase. We do have COPA reporting, but it is used for Wholesale only. The challenge that we have is in our current SAP, we have defined our segments as
Wholesale
Mens Brands
Womens Brands
Childrens Brands
Retail
Full Price Stores
Outlets
In the current financials, all transactions for retail are recorded as either Full Price or outlets but not at individual brand level. we are looking for ways to utilize the SAP functionality to report retail business at brand level and would like to see the options available.
Thanks and Regards,

Hi Satish
Bear with me but till the time, any expert, expert on this topic respond, I wish to understand how segment is mapped and used in COPA for wholesale only.
Can you not define Segments as:
Retail - Full Price Stores
Mens Brands
Women Brands
Children's Brands
Retail - Outlets
Mens Brands
Women Brands
Children's Brands
If you define segments like this and using KEDR, you should be able to achieve your requirement.
However for this, I need to know some basics about segment mapping in your system and how it ultimately flows to COPA.
Though this make take your time, however it will just help my understanding and maybe help us in coming up with a solution, totally out of the box
Regards
Mustafa
