Planning on a monthly basis at network level

Hi gurus

I'm having an issue right here regarding planning at network level. We are implementing SAP in a construction company. And they need to be able to plan at network level (machines, labour, materials, and transportation), but they have to do it on a monthly basis. That is to say, they have several needs of resources (machines, labour, etc) during certain periods of time, but they plan them on a monthly basis. They plan both hours of resources and final output/production of each item (kilometers to be goaled, square meters to be built, etc). So that they can compare this plan with the actual data, every month.

I can solve the issue of plan and actual productions at network level with statistical key figures. But I don't see how to solve the resource planning at network level. I only have the chance to introduce resources in networks activities during a period of time, and then the system splits that into the corresponding months in the reports, but that's not what they do. CJR2 lets me do a monthly plan, but only at WBS element level. Easy cost planning at network level doesn´t take this into account.

The only possible solution I find is to split each activity into several activity elements, one for each month, but this turns the structure into something terribly difficult to handle.

Any previous experience you can share with me? I will appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

Thalos.

Look into the configuration around distribution functions under workcenter config.

Hi Ken, thanks for your reply. I've se looking at this configuration, but I only have the possibility to enter formulas. But I need to enter discrete values for each month. Any ideas on how can I do it? Thanks.

Hi Thalos,

Just curious. Were you able to find a solution for your problem?

I have a similar requirement.

Thanks,

Krishna

Hi Ken,

When using distribution function, I believe the cost also automatically gets distributed in that order in standard reports?

Thanks,

Krishna

Hi,

Try to use the distribution key on network activity as "Equally distributed" that means your total planned values are distributed equal to total duration of an activity.

Thanks,
